AI in Mechanical Engineering Design

In co-operation with Instrumental Engineering Institute of Tallinn Technical University we h ave started a common project Artificial Intelligence in Mechanical Engineering Design. In the first year of this project we have obtained the following results:

• An experimental programming for developing CAD software in the mechanical engineering was used as basic method for creating new generation design syntheses. We have used the prog ramming environment NUT with automatic program syntheses. We have composed and loaded knowledge bases with machine elements design knowledge
• A prototype of the program package for wheels and mechanical reducers design was devel oped
• Specification of the software package for solving measure chains was composed
• Materials for CAD textbook were collected
• A set of mechanical engineering programming exercises for the courses Software Engineering and Computer Aided Design was developed
